MGLM was invited to the Chicago Traditional Building Show to “defend their crown” after taking the title at Boston earlier in the year. Never one to back down from a challenge, MGLM picked up the gauntlet and arrived in full force with drafting boards. The rules were the same - no cheating, no stealing, no bribing of the judges. As before, the program, site, and drawing requirements were issued the morning of the first day.
After 16 hours of designing and drafting, and much deliberation, MGLM came in second place. Alas, you can’t win ‘em all!
Unfortunately as the Traditional Building Show evolved into the Traditional Building Conference, the Live Design Challenge was phased out and the last remnants of its existence online have disappeared over the years. Alas, no more watching teams argue about design decisions under pressure - that’s been left to HGTV.
